Science Playground

Today we went to the Science Playground at OMSI (Science Museum). Owen had a lot of fun exploring all of the various areas and especially enjoyed the little ball pit in the infant area!

If you can hear over the loud background noise, Owen says "ball" many times in this video.

Shorts!

We have lucked out with some seriously nice weather lately. Yesterday it was 60 degrees and sunny so Owen got to wear some shorts for the first time in a long, long, long time! We spent the afternoon at the park and had a great time. He's also been enjoying stroller walks again ... just as much as (if not more than) way back when he was a squirmy newborn.
Oh, and his hair is completely out of control these days, so I've decided to go for managed chaos instead of just chaos. And it's cute! He gets lots of compliments on his hair!

Little Man Walking

In this video Owen is showing off his walking skills ... and his whining skills. :-) He's usually a trooper when it comes to such falls but he's a bit cranky these days due to his cold (and he was actually about ready for a nap).

Follow-up note: When Owen watched this video of himself for the first time he burst into tears at the fall! The second time, he almost cried again, but I turned it off! Silly boy!

Down but not Out

Owen woke up Monday morning with a cold. I thought it was teething at first because it was just a runny nose, but now that I am starting to get that tickle in my throat, I think it's a cold. Plus, I find no evidence of teeth emerging! He's a little cranky, but that isn't stopping him from walking everywhere!

Happy Birthday to Daddy!

Friday was daddy's birthday! He's super old. Like at least 20 or so. ;)

Here is the best present daddy got! It's a pasta bowl with my handprint on it!

I helped daddy open his presents. For some reason a lot of his presents were wrapped in baby-themed gift bags. Hmmm... I wonder why?

Here's daddy's bright pink cake! Good thing he is secure in his masculinity. I didn't get any cake. Mom says I have to wait till my own birthday to enjoy such sugary goodness. Plus, it was a strawberry cake and babies aren't supposed to have any berries until they turn 1.

Here I am helping daddy blow out all 6 of his candles. We didn't want to have to apply for a permit from the fire department in order to light as many candles as it would have taken to reach daddy's age. So he just got 6.

This was good training for my birthday. It's coming up on April 4th. Don't forget to send me presents! ;)

Walk this Way

Thursday morning at the mall playground Owen decided to start walking more than crawling. He was walking all over the place. Since then, he's definitely been walking more but not nearly as much as that Thursday morning. Now, if he's pulled himself into a standing position and decides he wants to go somewhere, he walks there. He used to get back down and crawl to the new destination. Just a little more practice and confidence and he'll be on his way!

(Oh, and he's not a convict despite what his outfit might imply. He's actually wearing Halloween pajamas. ... one of the downsides to hand-me-downs from a boy born in the opposite season!)

Happy-Go-Lucky

We've been marveling lately at how "good" Owen is these days. This is compared to the early days when he would cry if he wasn't being held and bounced in a proper rhythm! He used to HATE the car and now does great in it. He used to be generally frustrated with is lack of mobility and now he can get just about anywhere. He used to scream at us for various things that we didn't understand and now he actually can communicate with us and we've managed to mostly figure him out! All-in-all he's a very happy, good baby (even if he's more active and curious than average)!

See How I Have Grown

Taking pictures in the chair is getting dangerous

What's in Here?

Cruisin'

Well, it's been about two months now since Owen took his first steps and he's still not walking on his own. That's okay though! He just recently figured out how to 'cruise' along furniture and the walls. He used to just 'go for it' and take steps inbetween things he wanted to hold on to. This phase is a little safer. He can get just about anywhere though and if he needs to take a few steps inbetween things, he does it quite handily.

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day!

What's with this Face?

I keep accidentally capturing this face on camera these days!

Owen is getting big! He's moved on up to 12-month clothes. He's also starting to communicate more. He has started using signs along with 'words.' He's figured out the sign for more and usually says "mo" as he signs it. Nursing and sleeping go hand-in-hand as far as he is concerned so he has started making the nursing sign (actually it's the milk sign) when he's ready for his nap. He knows the word ball and says "baw". He will also wave bye sometimes. Overall, he's very chatty and out-going! We're not sure how that happened! :)

More weekend pictures

The ever elusive picture of Owen and Mommy

I think somebody is going to like his new ride, all he needs now is someone to hook up a bike and pull him around.

Owen says, "get this doll away from me!"

Gran-Mammy and Gran-Pappy

G & G Johnson stopped by for a visit this weekend. Owen found them to be quite useful for walking help!

The Sunday Paper

Owen is following in his dad's footsteps already and enjoying the Sunday Paper!
