Owen's Big Day at the Pool

Since Owen has a swimsuit now he wanted to try out the pool, he was a little unsure of it first with his toes, but after a few minutes he loved it and is ready to go back. Pictures are courtesy of Grandma poolside.

Escape Artist

Owen makes it pretty clear when he's had enough of his car seat, baby seat, or any other seat these days. He plants his feet and arches his back to try to get out. In his baby seat, he works his way down till his legs are hanging out the bottom. He's very squirmy!

He's also figured out how to roll over in both directions now, although tummy-to-back only makes a rare appearance. Yesterday he managed to roll all the way from one end of the blanket to the other by rolling over three times in a row from back to tummy to back to tummy!

New Developments

As I'm sure you've all noticed, Travis (aka papabear) has started blogging on this site now that he is spending some time at home. Owen and Travis both seem to be enjoying their time together very much!

Owen will be 4 months old a week from Saturday! It's hard to believe! He is getting so big. Recently we noticed a good drop-off in crying and fussiness. Yay! (Let's hope I didn't just jinx it!) He just started batting at and sometimes grabbing toys. And we think he's given us some half-giggles in recent days and we hope to hear his first big laugh soon!

All in all, he is a very happy, smiley baby ... even when he is forced to wear crazy outfits by papabear!

Well just for a day anyways, but she couldn't even find time for a post, I guess I have to do everything around here! As you can see Owen dresses much better when she is in charge.

Well today was the first day of the new day shift. Either I am the master or Ashley has him well-trained because day 1 went very well, I suspect it's the latter. Here are some pictures from today:

Owen the Tiny

Owen has met several babies right around his age lately and it is undeniable - he is very, very tiny for his age! He is a shrimp!

Squirmy

Owen is a squirmy, restless baby! He is constantly kicking and bicycling his restless legs. He finally started moving his arms around as well (they used to always just be neatly tucked at his sides)! His new favorite activity is to go in his swing when it is turned off so he can sit there (doing his arm and leg exercises, of course) and get a good look at the mirror on the mobile above his head. This boy is going to be a maniac once he learns to crawl!

Chatty Owen

Owen has become very chatty these days, babbling up a storm. He says "mom" and "momma" often, even if he doesn't know it! He also, like his cousin Kellen, has only two volume levels: loud and really loud!

Owen's First Vacation

We have just returned from Owen's first vacation to Pacific Beach, Washington. Although he is not a very big fan of car trips, he survived the four hour drives in each direction and enjoyed hanging out with family and staring intently at the new scenery!
